Aliyah impresses on NXT

Last night's episode of NXT saw Aliyah take on Carmella in her televised singles debut in a match that was filmed back at Wrestlemania Axxess.

I was excited to see Aliyah after watching her on Breaking Ground and we didn't get to see much of her in the Battle Royal that she took part in a few months ago and I wasn't disappointing in her at all.

I liked her entrance, and when she got going it was clear she has trained hard. Her in-ring presence and awareness were great, as was her skill. Both Aliyah and Carmella had great psychology which showed in how Aliyah was taunting her. A lot of people have seen her before at live shows but for me and many others this was the first time.

With the skill that Aliyah has, I think that once she finds her place in the NXT Women's division (which shouldn't be too hard given the call ups that should be coming soon) she could be one of the best. I look forward to seeing a lot more of Aliyah.

Although I do think she should drop the first part of her entrance music.

WWE: Please give us more Women's matches!

After the Diva's revolution, the women's revolution, WWE dropping the Diva's division, the Diva's title and the term 'Diva' all together I, and a lot of others, thought that we would get more matches on Raw and Smackdown.

Although the matches have been of a very high quality and the women are by no means being forgotten about, I still feel like multiple matches would really help the division and here's why.

We need more than one feud going into future Pay-Per-Views to keep us going until the supposed title change at Summerslam.

I've said before that Charlotte's reign has grown stale and the reports are that she won't be dropping the title until Summerslam (with Sasha Banks taking it from her).

The roster at it's current time is at an all time high so there are plenty of talented women that could tell an amazing story with an amazing feud. It also feels as though the current feud we have (Charlotte vs Natalya) has been done, They put on an amazing match at Roadblock and although that match was amazing it makes this feud feel repeated so a new feud would be really refreshing.

Please, WWE give us more than one match per show/PPV and let these talented women shine!

Who will Asuka face for the NXT Women's Championship next?

Asuka is an excellent performer who has a lot of success since coming to NXT in late 2015. Her popularity took a noticeable drop when she won the championship from fan-favorite Bayley at NXT Takeover: Dallas, but this hasn't stopped her.

Not a lot has happened since she won the title but next week on NXT she will face Eva Marie in a match that was taped at Wrestlemania Axxes, but with Eva Marie being called back up to the main roster, the chances of her feuding with Asuka for her championship are slim to say the least witch leaves us wondering who will Asuka face next? Bayley has made her feelings toward Asuka known and she has stated on NXT over the last 2 weeks that she wants to win back the title in a rematch (which she is owed), and Alexa Bliss has made her intentions clear when it comes to the title.

Bayley will most likely be getting a call up to the main roster soon which leaves me to think that even if she does ever get a rematch, it most likely won't lead to a second title reign.

Alexa Bliss, on the other hand, will most likely remain at NXT for a while so it is possible that she will be Asuka's next challenger but I don't see her taking the belt as she isn't ready just yet, and not only that, Asuka has been built up as this unstoppable force in NXT that has yet to lose a match, so for her to drop the title to Alexa Bliss would probably leave fans extremely unhappy, and it wouldn't be too believable.

That leads me to Nia Jax.

Nia has only lost two matches on NXT; one at Takeover: London against Bayley in a championship match and the other was a tag team match with Eva Marie against Bayley and Asuka herself, and in the latter it was Eva who was pinned after a miscalculated leg drop from Jax. Asuka vs Nia would be a very interesting feud as both these women have a unique style and nobody else on the roster is like them. Nia has squashed many an opponent on NXT with Deonna Purazzo being the latest victim on last nights NXT so Nia being the one to knock Asuka from the top of the division would be very believable. Asuka could go on the main roster (many believe this will happen soon, even after such a short time in NXT) or feud with Nia for a while after dropping the title. With the lack of the four horsewomen, Emma, Eva and possibly Nia; the NXT women's division would be at an all time low which would mean Nia Jax could have a very dominant, lengthy run with the title while they build up some of the other women to become fan favorites, dominant heels, and all round great performers. It is developmental after all.

Those are just a few ideas, and if you have any let us know in the comments.

Goodbye Chyna, The Ninth Wonder of the World

Today is a sad day for the wrestling world.

The legend that is Chyna has passed away. She was found dead in her apartment today in Redondo Beach, California. Not much is known about her death at this time, we don't know whether it was drug related but it is known that she was taking medication for anxiety and sleep deprivation.

Chyna was a true inspiration to many and her legacy is one that will live on forever.

She was the first woman to enter the Royal Rumble, which she did twice.

She is also the first and only woman to the Intercontinental Championship, which she held three times. She also held the WWF Women's Championship for 217 days.

The woman was a legend and she will be in many of our hearts today as we remember her life and career.

Rest in peace Chyna, you will be missed.

Paige on why she will miss the term 'Diva'

This came as quite a shock to me because I thought that Paige of all people would of been pushing for the Diva term to be retired but in an interview on This Morning she said that when she heard the Diva's division was being retired she was very sad because when she was growing up, wanting to be a wrestler, the term Diva was something she aspired to be.

I'm sure a lot of people will have been confused about this and had questions, like me.

Paige did go on to say that she was happy to be part of the revolution and happy that the women of wrestling, WWE in particular, will be treated equally.

Why Eva Marie could be WWE's biggest asset

Okay okay, now I know a lot of people aren't going to be happy about this but just remember it's only an article.

Eva Marie is a name that almost every wrestling fan will be now familiar with. Mostly for the wrong reasons but she's known non the less.

I too used to be a huge Eva Marie skeptic and whenever she would come on TV my eyes would almost roll off of my face.

But that opinion has now changed. Yes, Ms. All Red Everything still has a long way to go (her mic skills need the most work) and she will have to seriously prove herself, BUT she has all the tools to become a serious weapon for WWE's arsenal. There's the obvious; she looks fierce. She has that look where even if she does a generic move such as the big boot or the headscissors takedown she did at Wrestlemania; it looks great.

Not only that but she you have to give her credit for how much she has improved. Even the people who still think she's bad can admit that compared to how awful she was late 2014/early 2015 to where she is now, that's a huge improvement. Oh, and her finisher is bad ass.

When Eva first came to NXT she still didn't have the ability and was being carried quite obviously throughout her first few but her last few matches down there (specifically her title match with Bayley and both tag team matches with Nia Jax vs Bayley and Carmella & Bayley and Asuka) and the 10 woman tag team match at Wrestlemania were great and she handled herself well.

Now I might be proven completely wrong and even could go out on Raw next week and accidentally break someones neck or even forget to come out to a match, but until i'm proven wrong I will give Eva a chance.

Remember, this is just my opinion. Keep it cool.

Natalya to face Charlotte at Payback

Last night on Raw saw Natalya, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch and Paige take on the team of Charlotte, Naomi, Tamina and Summer Rae with Natalya making Charlotte tap out to the sharpshooter for the win. This was a good match as expected and everyone got time to show their skill. The crowd wasn't the liveliest during the bout but the women, Natalya in particular, got the crowd going at times. Everyone looked as good as each other in this match, including Summer Rae who has improved a lot recently.

I'm still struggling to understand why we are still only getting one women's match on Raw and Smackdown seeing as this is the era of women's wrestling  and the dawn of the Women's Wrestling Revolution. It would just make sense to have two women's matches on Raw and Smackdown to keep the division alive, with multiple feuds going on (and not just for the title), that could culminate at one of the coming pay-per-views.

However, at the moment it looks as if we are only going to have the Charlotte vs. Natalya feud for a while, with Natalya stating earlier on Raw that she will face Charlotte for the Women's Championship at Payback with Bret Hart at ring side. These ladies have proven time and time again that they have great skill and great chemistry when facing each other in the ring so we know that this match will be a good one. It was previously reported that WWE plans to have Natalya feud with Charlotte for the next two PPVs with Sasha Banks eventually winning the title at Summerslam. Although the matches will be great, the feud will become stale unless they switch a few things up. At the moment it looks like Charlotte will be the one to face Sasha Banks at Summerslam, finally ending her (already stale) reign and giving the fans what they want.

However, I think the best thing for everyone would be for Natalya to win the title at Payback. Even if she drops the title the next month at Extreme Rules, it will keep everyone interested and change things up. Charlotte has been the champion for way too long now, and Natalya deserves it and would carry the new Women's Championship well.

I hope WWE realize that keeping the belt on Charlotte all the way up until Summerslam isn't a great idea and is only going to disinterest people and hurt Charlotte, more than help her.

Will Emma finally be a permanent fixture on the main roster?

Emma is a woman who has fought hard to get, and to stay, where she is today. She has been with WWE since 2011 and despite being very popular at NXT since 2013, never really found her fit on the main roster. Of course the blame for that is mostly WWE's since they are the one who buried for so long and never gave her any sort of push since the moment she debuted, and re-debuted, and re-re-debuted.

People seem to overlook the fact that Emma was in the match (if you can call it that) that sparked the Divas Revolution on Twitter. She was the one that was pinned by Brie Bella one move, and 30 seconds after the match started.

We use Emma as an example to show people that excellent in-ring skill and success in NXT doesn't always mean success on the main roster, and more often than not, once you get to the main roster; you may wish you had stayed in NXT (cough, cough, Tyler Breeze). But now it looks like Emma might be getting a push after all this time, it might not turn out to be the biggest push but it is a push non the less. I hope to see Emma reach greatness and have a lot of success in the future because with a few tweaks she could really become one of the greats!

Will Emma stay sitting pretty on the main roster or will she be back at NXT before the year ends? We will have to wait and see.

Welcome!

Welcome to Women's Wrestling Revolution, another blog dedicated to Women's Wrestling.

I've been in love with wrestling for a while now and even when women's matches were being called 'bathroom breaks' I was still invested in them. The women of WWE (and other promotions) have always been great; but now they're brilliant and they're stealing the show!

So what better time to start a blog dedicated to them than now; at the beginning of the Women's Revolution.

I will post quite frequently, mostly about the women of WWE as I usually find there is more going on with them and they're the ones I've been watching the longest. I will be posting things such as news, rumors, my opinions on things, open discussions and  lists.

If you enjoy wrestling and are as interested in the women of wrestling as I am then I think you will enjoy my posts. Thanks!
